This page is to address common questions that arise with our valued clients.

How does payment work?

1. The initial payment:

After our initial contact, I will provide you with a custom quote for your SEO and/or copywriting project. A 50% deposit is required prior to our 1-1.5 exploratory meeting. I spend time doing preliminary research before meeting you, and then take time to ask in depth questions about your business, so this is why 50% is required before writing begins.

You will receive an invoice from Charlene Writes to your email, and payment is currently available by e-transfer, or in person or through mail. 

2. The final deposit:

The final 50% deposit is due upon completion of the project or the project end date.

Most projects I take on should be completed within 90 days of the initial deposit unless told otherwise. Usually jobs are completed much quicker than this. 

If a project is taking longer than 90 days to complete due to the client failing to provide necessary information, the final invoice will be sent and due upon receiving. I understand that busy lives and unexpected events happen. After payment, Charlene Writes is still 100% committed and responsible to finish your project as soon as the necessary information has been provided. 

Common Questions 

1. Can clients co-write in partnership with Charlene Writes?

My experience is that this complicates the project, so no, I do not do co-writing with clients. I do however make sure to get to know you personally, to try and capture your tone, or more specifically your "brand voice" in all copywriting.

2. Can I request a price reduction due to having previous materials available for Charlene Writes to reference?

Generally speaking, no. Often sifting through and organizing previous written materials actually takes extra time more than it saves time. I consider gathering materials to be a part of the job, so it does not increase or decrease the value of our new project. I look at every aspect of your business and/or product with fresh eyes, and a new way of presenting materials. After all, that's why you've hired a new copywriter!

3. How involved are clients in the writing process?

Charlene Writes clients are involved throughout the process. Gathering initial information from you is critical, and the more yo share with me the happier you will likely be with the finished project. You are also welcomed to review all content and offer feedback/request changes, before the material goes live. 2 rounds of edits are included per page of your website, within the scope of work.

4. How do edits work?

Sometimes things change with your business, even in the small time frame we work together. Charlene Writes is understanding of changes and offers 2 rounds of edits- not rewrites. If changes are extensive (example removing a service and replacing it with a new service)- then we can reevaluate the scope of work and price.
