SEO Copywriting Process

SEO Copywriting is simply the most effective way to bring organic traffic to your website over time. This page explains how I incorporate my marketing knowledge and SEO expertise together, to provide initial SEO copywriting for your business website.

When working with me, you will soon realize that I highly value my customers and their feedback. The more details you provide, the quicker the project can move along. You will feel welcomed to provide input throughout the process, as your satisfaction with the completed project is so important to me. 

Step 1: 
Getting to Know You

Initial Meetup- After you’ve reached out to me with an inquiry, I’ll contact you to schedule an Initial Meetup, either out for coffee or over the phone. You can expect me to spend some time beforehand reviewing and running SEO analysis on your existing website if you have one!

It's so important for me to get to know you a bit before I start writing for you. After all, it’s your company I’ll be representing with my words! So, I’ll want to learn a bit about your life, and of course about your business and website needs and goals.

Please take this time to ask me any questions you have as well. I want to make sure we are a good fit just as much as you do.

Collect Materials- If you have any other available materials about your business, services, or products, it would be helpful to pass them on to me at this time. This will help me to better understand the scope of work.          

Step 2: 

Market & SEO Copywriting Research 

SEO Keyword Research

I spend 2-3 days researching what keywords are priority in your field, using MOZ SEO software.

What you get: 

You will receive a categorized and ranked SEO keywords list. This is for your personal use, should you decide to ever do website updates or blogs yourself. I will explain to you how to best use these keywords to your advantage.

I will implement strategic keywords into your copywriting to help improve Google ranking. 

Competitor Research

Insight into top competitors. I will identify your “true competitors”. For example, a local clothing shop should not compare themselves with a store like Walmart, because they are on a different scale.

I will investigate the website strategies being used by your local competitors, but I will also identify who your top competitors are for important keyword searches on Google.  

 

Competitor Research includes:

-  Garnering keywords from them, as well as identifying keyword gaps for our list

- Checking what backlinks they are using to direct traffic to their site when applicable

- Reviewing their website for ideas of what works well and what doesn't


What you get:

  • A simple breakdown of your top competitors online
  • SEO Copywriting recommendations based on what your competitors are doing successfully
  • A starter list of 10 potential places we could try to gain linkbacks to your website. This is one critical way to improve traffic to your website. If interested, I can work on this piece of your SEO strategy once your website is complete.
  • Suggestions for optimal ways to position your company in the local market.

Step 3:
SEO Copywriting Begins

Intuitive & User Friendly Website Organization

Using all the information garnered through our exploration meetings and keyword/competitor research, I will plan how to organize your website. This will include:

  • Determining what inner pages are helpful, and what type of information is best for your homepage.
  • Planning with improved sales in mind- in other words showcasing why you are the best service provider, have a premium product, and/or how you benefit your customers’ lives.
  • Strategy for building inner-links to help people find more information and stay on your website longer (improves SEO!)
  • Calls to Action and/or Forms are considered at this stage as well.

This process make's your web designers job a lot quicker, smoother, and ensures an intuitive user-friendly experience.

 

Copywriting at Last

This is where all the pieces of the puzzle finally come together to turn your website into a sales masterpiece.

I'll begin copywriting with your homepage as it is most important. Sometimes, your Homepage can go live while the other pages are being built by your designer. Next, I'll complete all your inner pages.

Feedback: All pages will be submitted for your feedback, which is strongly encouraged. If you like, we can do a reveal over screen share and review the content together. Sometimes during this process, you will realize that you forgot to mention important aspects of your business, so please know that you are welcome to speak up.

Backend Work: You can trust that I'll take care of SEO optimized meta descriptions, tags, and image optimization on the backend. 

Ready, Set, Go! Once all the writing is approved, your SEO friendly content is ready for your website. Often my clients are also working with my husband Brent at Soapbox Studios, so that together we can create a cohesive vision. However, I am always happy to consult with a designer of your choice when needed.
